I know this is sort of an "un-spoken" thing, and doesn't just happen is us chubby gals but its one of those things we all suffer from silently and just kind deal with. I know I did for many years, but it wasn't till I started swapping little tips and remedies with other ladies that I found that right mix of products that worked for me.
For those of you who are reading this like "Ashley what the heck is chub rub" well its basicly the nice way of saying that "chafing" that happens between your thighs mostly around summer time when we wear shorts, and dresses, with exposed thighs that rub together. I have even had it happen while wearing jeans in the summer. I am no doctor but if you do your research its caused basically by friction of your thighs toughing in the warm weather. It can be as simple as a slight redness to even blistered up and be pretty painful. Being a girl who spends most of her life walking, I have experiencing this a lot of my life, and have found may ways to prevent this, but what I am going to share with you bellow is my best method, it may not work for you but it works for me.
I know most gals decide that they just don't want to deal with the chub rub so they brave wearing spanx under their dresses to stop their thighs from rubbing together, that works a good a mount of the time, but sometimes, you really just want to not feel like you are wearing tons of layers, and that's where these tips come in handy. (these can also be paired with wearing spanx too! I've done that when I know I am going to be running around all day)
Coconut Oil:
The first thing I do to prevent the dreadful chub rub is coconut oil, I have raved about how much I love this for my hair, and skin. Its seriously the best product I have ever used for my beauty routine because you can use it for so many things. I use it after my showers to moisturizer my legs, it doesn't make you feel greasy, but it adds a good first layer of protection from the chub rub, and also soothes anything you may already have. It adds a slick layer on top of your skin so if your legs do rub together? There isn't really a lot of friction. But like I said before, its not super greasy so it doesn't feel like you lathered yourself in oil. I got mine at the super market, I've seen it everywhere now, its really easy to get your hands on.
Friction or Chafing gels/creams:
Now I think I have tried a bunch of these, enough to say I can pick my two favorite. At first I was sort of embarrassed to buy these but now I don't give a crap, I want to be comfortable and these both work. These both do the same thing don't get me wrong but the Gold-bond Friction Defense if my favorite, for two reasons, it comes in a stick form so you just have to slide in on your thighs and rub it in a little and you are good to go. So it lasts long, (no need for the OH CRAP I squeezed to much out!) and you get more product that way, so you get more bang for your buck. The Monistat Soothing Care is roughing the same price as the Gold Bond but you get less product and tho it works really well, and I do really like it because it does the same thing, It comes out in a gel and dries to a powder. I only ever get it if I can't find the first one. (like today I went to the store to restock myself, and they were out of the gold bond, so I grabbed the Soothing Care). I put both of these on after the coconut oil dries and it pretty much lasts me all day.
If I know its going to be a long day, I may wear my trusty spanx, but these work really well to help me prevent the dreadful chub rub. So I can wear my dresses with no worry and wear shorts with no issue! It did take me awhile to find the perfect combo that lasts me all day, but I figured I would share it with you all!
Until the next Chubby Girl Problems I hope you all enjoyed!
