My Star Wars Themed Wedding Shower!

I know things have been slow lately here on the blog, to be honest its been far in my thoughts because I have been busy with wedding related things, my day job, as well as other things. But, two weeks ago Eric and I had our Wedding Shower! It kicked off the #supersmithwedding16 wedding festivities! And our wedding party pulled together what I can only say was the best wedding shower in the galaxy! Because you know, it was STAR WARS THEMED!

One of the best things is having a wedding party that understands your personality, and Eric and I are reallythat  our friends get us They could of thrown us a fancy, traditional wedding shower (which there is nothing wrong with!) but they instead took the geeky route and did it all up Star Wars. And man was it amazing!

My Maid and Matron of Honor made most of the decorations, and pulled together what I can only call, fun, geeky yet also classy. It had small little Star Wars nods, like death star center piece vases (which Lyndsey painted ALL BY HAND), a Stromtropper helmet to sign for a guest book,  and  the cutest little mason jars with  candles that had Leia and Han silhouettes that said "i love you, I know". As well as a HUGE Kylo Ren cut out, which I cracked up over, because it pulled everything together.

That a long with a fun DIY photo booth, it had the perfect mix of everything. The girls really hit it out of the park (or galaxy!) with it. Even the favors where smores that say "may the smores be with you." And having the guests play Wedding Jeopardy, which was really fun because sometimes showers can get boring, and it made everyone interact with each other, and it was filled with a lot of laughs and fun!

Everything about it was perfect, even the selfies being taken with Kylo and all the silly photo booth pictures. It was the best way to start off the wedding countdown. I am truly lucky to have such an amazing wedding party and have such amazing people in our lives.

Here are some final photos, my dress was PRINCESS LEIA (which will have its own outfit post coming next week), as well as the link to the vlog from the night! I wish I had more details for you guys, like how everything was made, because the girls did an AMAZING job with making a lot of the decorations, maybe I can convince Lyndsey to do a craft blog post on the vases. But I know a bunch of you wanted a blog post. Thank you guys for reading! Look for more wedding related blog posts coming in the next month! Make sure to check out the vlog at the end of the post!

Outfit Of The Day: Skulls and Pins!

So its been awhile since I've posted an outfit, so bare with me here. The winter sort of brought on a rut, I was in jeans and tees, hoodies and comfty adult pjs for awhile. I am excited that the weather is warmer and I can dress up a little, and not be hidden under what I called my "Captain Cold Cosplay" winter gear. So hopefully this means a lot more out fit posts coming, if I remember to take pictures of them.

Alright so the breakdown of my outfit, I have been wanting to turn a jean jacket into a geeky pin and patch filled jacket for awhile now, so I finally did it, and its slowly coming together into this jacket you see here. I got it at target and the pins come from everywhere. Its slowly becoming my favorite piece of clothing I own.

Along with the jacket, I am wearing a "bone" dress from Torrid, I got it last summer and it feels like you are wearing a tshirt, and its VERY comfy. Paired that with my boots, and tights (that you can't see in the picture opps.) and you have this very spring-ish outfit. I love it. It was perfect for Eric and I's day-time date. And its complete with my new favorite pair of sunglasses I also got from target.

I am hoping to get back into the swing of outfit posts, so here's hoping they pop up more often!

Plus Size OOTD - Cleaver Girl

So I am really late with this, it was meant to be posted last week, but I was having computer issues, so it is up this week! In case you can't tell, I am a huge Jurassic Park fan, this goes back to when I was a kid and talked my dad into taking myself and my cousins to go see it, because I loved dinosaurs (but what kid didn't?), it was just a really cool feeling watching that movie and going "ohhhh ahhhh, look at that!" And as I got older, I developed I really odd crush on Jeff Goldblum, but I mean really? Can you blame me? Needless to say, a new movie coming out, was having me VERY excited, even with the slight defeat of the other films that followed the first, this one had to be awesome, I mean Chris Pratt, come on.

Anyways with out flooding this post with shirtless pictures of Goldblum, let me talk about my outfit. Like I said I was super excited for the movie,I wanted to show my love. So I put together this little outfit. I had picked up a Jurassic Park shirt from target awhile back, and I wanted to sort of go for a park worker/trainer vibe so I stole Erics green khaki shirt, that matched my green cargo shorts, threw on a pair of sneakers, and of course the hat was needed, and I had my own little, very quick but still awesome Jurassic World outfit.

Now with out giving away spoilers, I will say the movie was awesome, my outfit was comfy, and basically it was all around a good time.

Hopefully you guys like my outfit, a little late but still! Did any of you see the movie? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Shut up and take my money! New Her Universe releases!!!

EVERYONE, stop what you are doing, Her Universe has new Star Wars dresses  and other awesome things coming out! Nothing else matters!

Now I was sitting on my break at work today, scrolling through facebook when I saw this blog post from the Her Universe. And this was my reaction:

Ashley Eckstein had been teasing us with little previews on twitter and instagram the last few weeks, and I was dying to see the whole collection, and boy am I super excited! These new items will be released at the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim  April 16th-19th and online that same weekend at Heruniverse.com (for more info check out the blog post). And I have been saving my money because boy is there a lot I want.

I love Her Universe as I have said in MANY Outfit Of the Day posts because they cater to us plus size gals, as well as offer fashionable geeky clothes for us who enjoy Star Wars, Doctor Who, Marvel,  Star Trek and other fandoms. I have turned many friends on to this brand, and all of them adore it as much as I do. What I love most about these new dresses, is the pin up style of them, which is RIGHT up my ally, So let me show you a few of my favorites and what I will for sure be picking up, either that weekend or soon after from the website! Are you ready for awesomeness? Brace yourselves.

First of are these two pin-up style dresses with Cloud City and Hoth, tell me those aren't beautiful? I can't get over them and I need them in my life. As well as that X-Wing cardigan which I think would look adorable with both dresses!

Next on the must have list is this light saber skirt, LOOK AT IT, its seriously the coolest skirt I have seen since the Tardis skirt I own from Her Universe, I love the Star Wars shirt that shes wearing in it, but since I have a budget I may pass on it FOR NOW, that will be a later purchase down the line. I love this skirt, and I already have an outfit in my head that I need to do with it.

Next is something a little more casual, but I love it, I think its kind of different from other sweaters I own, and I am sort of a sucker for anything grey and sweater-like, so this is up there on my must have list. I mean who doesn't love a comfy sweater?

Now this is another reason why I love Her Universe, they don't just make cute clothes for us adults, they make cute clothes for those nerdy little girls. Where was this place when I was 5 and in need of an adorable star wars dress?!  This last thing, I love not for myself, but for my god daughter. As soon as I saw this I sent the link to my best friend and simply said "SHE NEEDS THIS DRESS WHEN SHE GETS BIGGER, IM BUYING HER IT!" Now it may be awhile because she can fit into it, but might as well start her future wardrobe out right with this adorable kids Star Wars dress right?

As you can see I am super excited for these new items, and I can't wait to get them and share some amazing outfits with you guys. I really wish Her Universe was around when I was younger so that I wasn't afraid to show my nerdy side and love of star wars, but it makes me happy that younger girls now have that chance.

Check out the blog post I linked above for more releases, These are just a few of my favorites. Are you guys looking forward to any of these? Let me know!

Plus Size Outfit: Ramona Flowers.

Hello everyone! Today I figured I would share with you a simple, more casual, but very cute and nerdy outfit, I put together that is sort of a nod to one of my favorite characters, Ramona Flowers. This isn't really a cosplay. well I guess it could be a casual one? But anyways, ever since I bought this jacket in the fall I have been meaning to do an outfiy based off one Ramona wears in the movie, see this one right here:

When I bought this jacket from Jcpenny last fall it did't click together what it reminded me off till i got home and put it on with a hoodie. Eric told me I looked like Ramona flowers with my (then) purple hair and I found it very amusing, Because for the longest time with my ever changing hair color and similar style, a few of my coworkers and friends called me Ramona Flowers. So this was the coolest thing ever. Granted Eric didn't have to battle my 7 exs and I don't travel through Subspace, But it was still very cool. But the idea of doing a full outfit kind of was put in the back of my mind UNTIL I saw this awesome shirt on Teefury and my facebook filled up with posts of "ASHLEY YOU NEED THIS YOU NEED THIS YOU NEED THIS." So, I had to have it.

Thats when the whole outfit came together, I knew I didn't have to do something crazy like she does with the pink tights and fishnet and skirt. I could do something a bit more casual like this that I can just wear as an everyday kind of thing. So thats what I did. I just paired it with a pair of black jeans, and my black studded boots, along with my side bag (when I wear every day anyways). And who can forget the blue hoodie (that I might of stole from eric,) to tie it all together. And bam a simple, but cute, Ramona Flowers outfit. It gets the point across, and unless you actually know who I am trying to dress up as, you would just think its a casual outfit. And thats why I love about it, I know what I am doing, and a few other people might, but its not screaming "HEY GUESS WHAT WORLD IM DRESSED AS RAMONA FLOWERS!"

Well thats it for my outfit, hope you guys enjoyed the post and keep a look out for more posts coming soon!!

Halloween OOTD: MORTAL KOMBAT KITANA!

"You will learn respect”

Hey it is Nequisha again, when Ashley asked me to do another blog about an outfit of mine I was super stoked and even more excited when she asked me to do it on by far my favorite Halloween costume I have put together so far. This years costume that I did was Princess Kitana from the video game Mortal Kombat (just in case there are any people out there who haven’t played the video game or watched the movie).

As a child and still now as an adult I love playing video games; one of my favorite games to play was and still is Mortal Kombat. I can remember being at Hot Wheels roller skating rink playing this game at the arcade. So when this game originally came out Kitana was not one of the main characters, she didn’t come out until the second game. Now of course when these games came out I was 6, so naturally I sucked at them, needless to say my older brother was not letting me play the game with him, but when I got my hands on the controller I would pick her as my character cause my 6 year old self would pick her because she was a girl and wore my favorite color blue. When the movie came out and found out that she was an ass kicking, badass princess I was pretty much set that she was my favorite character ever.

Halloween Outfit: "Oh there you are peter!"

When I was a kid I was obsessed with Peter Pan. I loved the movie Hook and made my mom and dad watch it every single day. I could quote it from start to finish and I would jump from couch to couch yelling bangarang, wishing I could fly off to Neverland. I had begged my mom to let me be Peter Pan for two hHalloweens and Hook for another. It was such a big part of my childhood, and one of the biggest costumes that stood out for me over the years. While throwing around halloween ideas and trying to come up  what to do. I realized it was 20 years since I last put on the Peter Pan costume my grandmother had made for me. Thats when I decided, I am going to make my Peter Pan costume again, but this time do it more like the one from Hook.  I wanted to do it all myself, like my grandmother had done for me 21 years back. Thus started "project bangarang"

It was really easy to do, I bought the green fabric from Walmart, and simply used a oversized t-shirt for my pattern and shorts,  traced it on the fabric, cut out the fabric, sewed it together, and I had the base for my costume. I had a ton of pics of Robin Williams costume from Hook saved for reference, used some scrap fabric for layers with the leafs, painted the leafs (also from walmart) brown with the green and hot glued those suckers onto the shirt. Once it was tried I cut jagged edges on both the shirt and the pants, kind of making it look messy and not to uniform. I cut the collar before doing the leafed, and added some brown fabric inbetween some hand made holes for the lacing, glued a few leafs on the hanging string, and most of the outfit was done. The hardest par was finding the right colored tights, which I ended up finding at payless shoes. The belt was just brown fabric and my costume was done. All and all I spent roughy 10-12 dollars. Which I am very impressed with.

I loved this costume, because it meant a lot to me. As a kid and even now. I felt like through making this whole thing I had a moment with 5 and 6 year old me. I bonded with her again and relized she is always going to be a part of me. I am still that girl who plays pretend, I just do it as a grown up now in my own ways. I hope I make that little girl proud. Because I still get giddy whenever I watch Hook, I can still quote it, and as soon as I put on this costume i said to myself, HAVE TO FIGTH, HAVE TO FLY, HAVE TO CROW! Because thats just what you do when you are Pan.

I hope you all enjoyed this, and I hope you all had an awesome Halloween!

Plus Size Outfit "ch..ch..ch.. ha..ha...ha"

Points if you get why I tittled this OOTD "chchch hahaha"

We all know I am a huge horror nerd, my boyfriend and I are obsessed with horror movies and this time of year is my favorite.   Last weekend I had gone to a local horror convention here in Massachusetts called Rock and Shock, it was pretty awesome, and I got to meet a ton of awesome people, (even faced my biggest fear since I was 5, CHUCKY! AH!) No really, it was a great time, I even got to meet on of the people who is to blame for my zombie obsession starting from a very young age, Tom Savini. So I wanted to put together an outfit for the day, and not just wear one of my many (and i mean that MANY) horror movie tee's. So this is the outfit I put together,

Recently I had picked up this Friday the 13th tshirt from Old Navy, I loved it, even though its am guys tee, it runs long and my so I can wear it with leggings, and the fact Kane Hodder was going to be there, I wanted to share my love of Jason, so I picked this shirt. I paired it with my favorite pair of stripped leggings (or as I like to call it Beetlejuice leggings), and my very comfy and awesome studded cardigan (both from torrid). Because I was going to be walking around all day I wore my very comfy but still badass boots, and just did very little makeup. with a plum lip, and that was pretty much my outfit, Comfy but very awesome for any horror fan.

Best part about it, when we met Kane Hodder he told me he liked my shirt. Granted most likely says that to anyone who wears a Jason or Hatchet shirt when meeting him, but he was a pretty awesome guy!

If you guys want to see more pictures from Rock and Shock as well as me meeting Chucky himself, check out my vlog bellow, it was a great time, and it was great to see my boyfriend nerd out with me.

My Kaylee Frye from Firefly Cosplay

This year I decided I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone, and do something I never really done before. This was cosplaying at a con. I have been to conventions in the past, and admired cosplayers, and from as far back as i can remember I have been really into making myself and my friends costumers for Halloween and they always came out really awesome and I loved the time and effort that went into them. So for awhile now a few people have been telling me to do it at cons. I was always nervous, the attention and everything gave me a bit of a small anxiety attack, but with Boston Comic Con coming up Eric and i decided we would do it. Now Eric's outfit took longer than expected with a few technical things, but I had decided on something a bit easy for my first cosplay. Being a huge Firefly fan, and Jewel going to Boston Comic Con the idea of cosplaying Kaylee was a pretty good one.

Plus Size Outfit: The Kiling Joke

Hey guys! Its been awhile since I have done an OOTD! I am taking advantage of being off from work this week to catch up on things. So I actually photographed my outfit from the other day. Which was casual but pretty damn awesome if I do say so myself! (I got tons of complements on the shirt.)  And YES, I finally got a hair cut, it was well over due, my hair was a hot mess. ANYWAYS, on to the outfit!

So the main part of the outfit, is this shirt which I have been wearing A LOT lately, and its the Killing Joke shirt I got from hot topic last month, It features the last page of one of my favorite Joker stories. When I saw it I had to have it, it needed to be mine, so I grabbed it. Its white which is rare to me, but I looked past that with its awesomeness. I paired it with black shorts, because its still summer, and since it was kinda breezy I threw on my jean pokadot chambray (which apparently looks like one of ted mosby's shirts I CAN'T GET AWAY FROM IT!). Its a casual, but statement outfit. I just threw on my trusted chucks and called it a day. Nothing else really, but it was just simple enough, but also very awesome!

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick BUT AWESOME OOTD! Follow my blog for more awesomeness!

Plus Size OOTD: May The 4th Be With You!

My first OOTD ever on youtube was two years ago today, it was a Star Wars inspired look for "May the 4th" which is also known to many people as Star Wars Day! And it was just a simple star wars t-shirt and blazer. So I knew this year I had to put together a great May the 4th outfit for you guys. If you follow my blog, you know most of my outfits are Star Wars themed. So its not shook that I did something for this day. Star Wars is something I hold close to my heart, and have since I was a kid. When most little girls were playing with Barbies or baby dolls I was playing with little Star Wars figures with my cousins and having light saber battles in the back yard with those cheap colored sticks they tried to pass as light sabers in the late 80's and early 90's.

The Star Wars movies was something I watched all the time. It was the movies my grandmother put on for me when I was sick, (and Eric still does now), the first movie I remember quoting, or going to a midnight showing for when the new films came out.  It was my first fandom as a child and has stuck with me all these years.

Sure I don't need a date to dress up in my favorite Star Wars get up or sit on the couch for hours and watch all the movies I can in one day span, but its fun, and that is why I bring you todays outfit, its Darth Vader inspired, and I pretty much love it.

The dress, lets start with that. I got it at Hot Topic for a steal on clearance. I had been seeing Darth Vader dresses on Thinkgeek and Blackmilkclothing for awhile now, but I was able to get this one for way cheaper. Those the tag says its a dress, and it fits me like one. If someone was a bit taller than me, I would think it would fall to short, I even have to remember to pull it down at times, and I wore little shorts under it just in case, but other than that it fits pretty great, considering some female clothing from hot topic tends to not fit me to well. But this is quiet comfy and is really nice even though it is pretty form-fitting.

At first I was a bit worried with it being so form fitting, and maybe being see though (some hottopic female dresses and tops are for us gals with bigger boobs) but no issues with that at all. I paired it simply with my spiked sweater from Torrid, I felt it went well with the dress, tho I wish I had a red cardigan (mine has a hole in the sleeve I need a new one) but this one did the job well!

You could also wear this with dark leggings or even jeans if you thought it was too short, but I paired it with some floral tights from Forever 21+ which I thought added a little bit of girlie-ness to the outfit and also looked really well with the dress.  I love their tights because they fit me really well, most tights from other stores are really tight in the thighs, but these not so much! And of course I added my studded boots to the mix, I love them we all know this and I will find reasons to wear them until it gets to hot for me to.

My favorite pair of sunnies from forever 21 top off the outfit, and accessories, nothing really crazy there, I felt the studs added enough bling. Oh and if you feel needed you can add your Vader helmet but thats TOTALLY optional!

The hair I kept simple. I wanted it pulled off to the side kind of swept back and pinned. Its really what I have been doing lately since I am growing it out, and it seemed to only be tamed this way. Again nothing to crazy, just my every day kind of hair style!

The makeup is where I had a hard time deciding on. Last year I did a Darth Vader makeup And I was torn between doing that, or doing a sorta grungy, but still pretty look. I decided on the other grungy, pretty look. I just used my KVD Lady Bird palette to give myself a messy, smokey eye, added a TON of black liner to the look. I did my normal contour and blush, with Mac's Studded Kiss on my lips and the look was complete. I wanted the focus to be mostly on the dress so this played up the look, but didn't take the attention from the focal point!

And there we have it, my Darth Vader OOTD! Which is very fitting for May The 4th, and for other reasons.

Two years ago I started doing those kinds of videos to show off my nerdy style as well as try to break myself out of my shell more. So I did it in the only way I knew how, Star Wars!  I know to some of you this may seem kind of silly, but honestly I was nervous the first time I set up my camera to talk about what I was wearing. Most of you had only seen just the top of me sitting down talking about makeup, and two years ago though I was confident in my body, it was still harder for me to show it. I wouldn't of gone out and done a little photo shoot with Eric to show off my outfit, like I did for you guys today.

Thank you so much for reading my blog and watching my videos! i love you guys and the support you bring to me!

xoxo

Plus Sizre OOTD: NANANANANA BATLEGGINGS!

I am loving this spring weather lately, its not to cold, but not to warm so I can get away with wearing something like this with not freezing my but off! I know most of my closet is black, and to be honest I just really love wearing black, maybe its because my hair is bright and black just looks good with it. But this outfit is mostly black and white, but I love it so thats all that matters. Some of these peices are things I have posted in here before, but I love them and they can make different outfits, so I wear them often.

This is the first time most of my outfit is from forever21+, the dress is my favorite dress from there, I adore it because its just a basic black dress, I wore it because all of my other dresses are solid colors, and I didn't feel like they went with the leggings as well.  ALSO from forever21 they are BATMAN leggings! How awesome are they? With the little bat-signals all on them, they are super cute, super soft and it gives the look a little pop. And fit me great. I could wear these leggings every day I just love them.

My necklace adds a bit of color to the outfit, its comic style POW I got at hottopic AGES ago and I haven't worn it much, but I feel it really goes with this outfit, it reminds me of the old batman tv show with Adam West whenever they'd hit the bad guy POW, SLAM, BOOM! So I had to put it with this outfit, it was a perfect match!

To add a little bit of bad ass to the outfit, I added my favorite jacket for spring, the studded jacket I got at dots for SUPER CHEAP,  It really adds a bit of edge while not being too much. Its just light enough to wear in the spring time into the summer with out being overly heavy. Its my favorite for a reason, it goes with everything!

So that is it! My batman leggins outfit, we all know I have a love for pattern leggings so I had to have these leggings, they are still on forever21 if you guys want to grab them! They are so worth it!

Hope you guys enjoy my outfit, please follow my blog for more awesome updates and outfits!
