OOTD: How Do you wear your Nerd Machine NES shirt?

Hello lovelies, today I have an awesome post for you. A few weeks ago Jordan and I were chit-chatting about her coming on as a regular for  all her cutest and nerdy OOTD because you guys loved her and well I loved having her be a guest blogger. After joking around and throwing out random ideas, it dawned on me, why don't we do a kind of "how do you wear your Nerd Machine NES shirt" OOTD.  I have been asked "Where did you get that shirt" every time I wear mine in a video, or on instagram, so I can finally answer that question, with a little help from Jordan.

It was perfect! We both have the same shirt, so why not show you guys the different ways to dress it up, how two different people from two different coasts would wear it.The idea was perfect, but put off because the east coast turned into Hoth for a few weeks. But after a few weeks and a lot of outfit changes, I am here to present you with our "How Do you wear your TNM NES shirt" OOTD, I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do and remember if you want to follow jordan  all her info will be after her part of the post! Thanks for reading!

ONTO THE OUTFITS!

Ashley's outfit:

I am always asked "whats a way to dress up a graphic tee". I mean for girls like myself who 75% of your closet consists of graphic tees, if its band tees, superhero tees or this awesome Nerd Machine NES shirt  (which I wear more than anything really), you try to find ways to branch out from the classic, "oh ill just throw it on with jeans and a hoodie"  situation. Granted I do that most days, but some days I like to kind of amp it up a bit. The weather has been horrid so I was pretty happy a day last week was nice enough for me to just wear a simple jacket and not dress in a million layers like the kid from a Christmas Story. I had to run errands and come home and film a few videos for my youtube channel, so I wanted to keep it casual but still have a little edge to it.

I had recently picked up a pair of high waist jeans from Dot's a few weeks back, I figured they would be perfect for outfits like this. I have the mens style of the shirt (unlike Jordan who has the womens) so I decided to tuck them into the jeans which kind of gave it more of a "put together" I paired it with my favorite pair of boots from Torrid, that are what my niece calls "aunties pirate boots" that have studs on the front and back, which also adds to the edgy-ness of the outfit, and ties in with the other pieces I added, like my jacket. Which I got for a steal at Dots and was dying to use. It has the studs on the collar which again goes with the boots,  its not really heavy so if it got cold outside I could throw a hoodie under it, but it kept me warm enough to do what I had to do. One of the last things is  my favorite pieces at the moment, my studded headband which I got at Forever 21 which keeps my unruly hair in check and ties together the whole outfit.

I finished all that off with a quick winged liner look and some bad ass red lipstick (urban decay's F bomb) and that is my whole look! I love how it turned out, how comfy it was yet it wasn't the same old jeans and t-shirt thing.

Jordan's Outfit:

Pardon the pictures, I didn't have anyone to take them for me and I'm doing this while at work, ha.

Ashley came up with the brilliant idea to do a sort of series featuring two different ways to wear our NES Nerd shirts from the Nerd Machine. And after a. Lot of different outfit changes and a lot of different weather obstacles (she had snow to deal with!!!) I was finally able to get my finger out and figure out something to do that was functional.

I wore this outfit on a Wednesday, and Wednesdays are usually pretty packed for me. I work in the afternoon and then go straight from work to my bar trivia night - so I needed something that could be both day and night-ish. I had planned on trying something with my denim circle skirt from American Apparel but it's pretty short and not really appropriate to wear to work when you're a nanny. I was finally able to settle on something cute but casual and a little striking. And typical, let's be honest.

The whole outfit is built around my Nerd shirt. I have the girly fit so it's a little more form fitting, allowing me to wear layers over it and not be too bulky. If you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of layers. Especially in SoCal where the weather changes on a dime (it's true!) I'd rather have one too many layers than not enough. I naturally paired this with another chambray, this one a little lighter and more distressed looking than the JCrew one of my last post.

While I'm not normally a fan of black on black (I'm not Johnny Cash), I decided to pair the shirt with my black miniskirt from Forever21. I bought it a couple years ago and it's been a great little piece because is cotton, stretchy, and easy to dress up or down. I usually wear it with tights, and since it's black I can wear any color with it. Today I decided to go with a simple black tight because my boots and chambray would bring enough pops of color.

This brings me to my favorite part: accessories! My original plan had included my black motorcycle boots, until I found the treasure that is my red boots in my closet. They're the type of treasure that you packed away during moving and forgot you had until some lucky morning when you think to dig a little deeper into your closet. I bought these boots at Macy's a few years ago for when I went as a female!Flash for Halloween. They're comfortable and casual and are the perfect shade of red to match with pretty much anything. I cannot WAIT to wear them more often.

The chambray I chose today had silver buttons, so I stuck with my silver charm bracelet as a jewelry piece - I haven't perfected mixing metals yet but I'm on my way. A little black eyeliner and mascara and some clean hair and voila, my nerdy (literally!) outfit of the day!

I'll be able to put a coat over it all if it gets cold tonight and best of all, it's perfect for our 75-80 degree afternoon today. Comfortable, functional, and cute.

So there we go, mine and Jordan's different ways of wearing TNM NES tee,  hope you guys enjoyed the outfits, if so PLEASE comment bellow, share this post with your friends, maybe let us know what other OOTD's you wanna see next.
