Plus Size Outfit Topanga Lawrence realness!

Hey Everyone! Today I am bringing you this quick outfit of the day! Now I am behind on these so bare with me, this was from a few weeks ago, when I was rocking some serious topanga lawrence realness! Now for those of you who don't know who she is, come on now, where were you in the 90s?!

But anyways, when I put on this dress I got from Target I feel in love, because it feels like I am seriously wearing just a t-shirt. Its SO damn comfy, and flattering. The colors are muted so its not in your face, and can almost be worn with anything.  I knew I had to plan an awesome outfit for it, so well I did!

I paired it with my tights from Torrid, which I wear with almost everything. And my combat boots, also from Torrid, which we all know is a staple in most of my outfits. I was going for something casual, nothing to dressy, so I just kind of  left it at that. I wasn't planning on a 90s inspired look, but it turned out that way, funny how things work out right? You buy a dress beacuase you love the colors and how it looks on you, and you end up dressing like a character from Boy Meets World, who knew!

Here is a quick break down of the outfit, I will think off what I can find, but some things may not be sold anymore.

Dress - Target
Boots - Torrid
Tights - Torrid

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick outfit of the day! Follow my blog and youtube for more updates! Thanks for reading!

OOTD: Don't lady me son, I am an Avenger!

Guest Blogger: Jordan

Starting something new always requires a fair amount of psyching up - or out. A pep talk, an awesome song (or whole awesome mix), or some great, call-to-action type quotes. I'm not prepared with any of those things right now so I'm just going to jump right into it.

Ashley and I have been friends, online, for a few years now. Through various different endeavors. She is my make up and hair guru, my go-to-goddess of all things cosmetic. And judging by her blog and YouTube account, I'm guessing she's that same goddess for a lot of other people, not just me. She helped save my hair when I bleached it for the first time in an effort to dye it peach and I missed a whole stripe around my head. I am constantly IMing her with hair dye questions and make up tips. I trust her implicitly when it comes to the girly stuff like that.

So when she asked me to write a guest post on her blog, a Nerdy Outfit of the Day post even, I was floored. This woman, this amazing, gorgeous, and stylish girl wanted me to write a post talking about my own nerdy style for her blog. Needless to say, I couldn't say yes fast enough.

I guess a little about me - My name is Jordan, or JJ, whichever you want. Much like Ashley, I'm a huge nerd. And we both believe really strongly that nerdy girls can be cute and fashionable too… but don't know how to approach it a lot of times. I've made a big effort in the past couple years to try and move past my jeans-and-a-tee formula, but it's also taken me that long to realize that I don't have to. Nerdy fashion is moving in such a way that you can be cute and keep your tees. Hell, fashion itself is nothing if not fun and comfortable.

I live in an area where the sun is mostly shining and the temperatures stay mostly the same - yes, I live on the opposite coast, and that informs a lot of my fashion choices. I'm lucky, it's easy to plan outfits when your temperatures stay mostly in the same 30 degree range. I value comfort above all else, because if I'm not comfortable then I know I'm not looking my best. I love vintage inspirations and accessories. I love heels as well as flats (standing at 5'3" does that to you). I LOVE colors and think if you can't be brave with those, then where's the fun in dressing up? But I also love my staples. I will wear a cardigan or a chambray with almost anything. I will wear the same pair of jeans until they smell bad (NO SHAME).

Yet, I think I could confidently call my style "nerdy hipster chic." I have way too many nerdy tee shirts than I know what to do with, so I'm constantly looking for ways to wear them, update them, and be on trend but comfortable and stylish at the same time. So with my posts (of which I hope there will be many more to come!) you might see some patterns, and some pieces getting reused. That's fine, you don't have to be constantly ON TREND to be fashionable.

Fashion is what you make of it.

So without much further ado, here is my outfit:

Torrid Clothing Haul

Oh Hey guys. Its been a few days. I blame the real world and being an adult, but with that being said I was very happy to come home to my clothes that I bought from the  70% off all clearance and buy one get one half off sale! I figured I would share them with you. I few of these items I have been eyeing on the site and wishing and needed them, so I finally caved when they were on sale. I noticed as I was trying these on, oh shit I bought all black tops, but really who gives a shit because half the time I wear black anyways. So here with go with the haul...(and yes I know its all iphone photos my actual camera battery was dead so we will just deal with what I have here)

The first top is what a friend of mine called "a very fabulous Shredder from Ninja Turtles" and no she wasn't trying to insult me, in fact its pretty perfect and I love it. I have been trying to find a good black top to wear with some of my more crazy-er leggings, and this one will be perfect for that.

This next one I have been eyeing for like a month, i don't know why but I even dreamed of this v-neck, yes that's
bad and its the reason why I even went on the site in the first place to buy anything. But its one of those tops that can be casual or you can dress it up with a blazer or leggings, and seriously? skull hand? come on total bad ass.

This is one of those "cold shoulder" kind of shirts, and I love these style shirts, I have a ton, but none in black, and again one of those shirts I can wear with colored pants or leggings and can be worn with tons of other things. Just a basic, and was cheap!

One thing I love about torrid is they have band tees that actually fit my boobs. If i go to hot topic or other places the girl shirts are always to small even in the xl-xxl sizes, and I get stuck buying a dudes shirt and altering it, which I do like but sometimes I just want an easy v-neck band tee and that is why I love this social distortion shirt.

And I am saving the best for last, this floral top is my FAVORITE out of everything I bought. Its super flattering on me and yes it is a tank top but I will most likely wear it with a cardi, but I love love love LOVE this top and it can be worn in the summer, spring, winter, how ever, it all depends on how you wear it and what you wear it with. I am so excited to maker outfits with this shirt for you guys, seriously tho, I love it!

So that is pretty much it for my torrid haul, I have kind of been in a "fashion slump" lately and its nice to buy new clothes and find reasons to make myself pretty and it just feels good buying new clothes.

Hope you guys enjoy this haul and remember follow my blog for more updates!!

I used part of my naked 3 palette and then some of my MUFE Eye shadows, I think it came out pretty and I had to share it with you guys.

Plus Size OOTD: Studded Sweater

Oh boy, oh boy. It has been getting sort of cold here lately, so I bought myself a comfy over sized sweater. Well this one actually is in a size XL and is meant to looked "cover sized" at first i thought it was a sweater dress, nope, it wasn't. I was kind of iffy at first with it but after awhile I decided I loved it because of the studs on the sleaves and that it was a little heavy so I didn't really have to layer a ton over it, i could wear its own  (or with the scarf i been wearing so much lately)

I bought the sweater at kohls, and its super comfy and over sized, I might pair it with leggings but I wanted to see how it wore with pants. I paired it with my favorite pair of teal pants from dots, and my studded boots that again I have been wearing A LOT lately but I love them so its ok.

And because it has been cold I put on my new jacket I got a dots a few weeks ago, its one of those jackets that looks like a leather vest with a hoodie under it. Its been my new favorite jacket lately and I pretty much wear it whenever I can. (until it gets to cold that I will need to bring out the big guns)

My makeup was just simple but a added a red lip for fun.

Hope you guys enjoyed my outfit! I didn't film a video with it today, I am hoping to get more ootd's done more often on here, but for that to happen some may not have videos with it.

thanks for reading!! follow my blog and my youtube channel for updates!

Plus Size OOTD - When in doubt, wear a Misfits shirt.

I love wearing band tee's. Ever since I was a teen. But over the years I learned how to dress them up a bit. Even if its as simple as a scarf and cardigan. Today I had a few errands to run and then met my boyfriend at work to grab some dinner, so I just wanted something comfty but I didn't want to look like I just rolled out of bed. So thats when I head for my trust band tee draw and pair it with a cardi and scarf. I am seriously so in love with this scarf you may see it a lot in the next few months.  This misfits tee I have had forever and is one of the few I haven't cut up and sewed yet so I just through a red cardigan and boom, easy outfit!

Plus Size OTTD: Super Hero Leggings

Hi Everyone! Seems like forever since I have posted an OTTD! Today I wanted to share with you my new favorite outfit, I mean seriously this couldn't get more awesome. Everyone knows the whole "pattern leggings" thing is all the rage, I haven't like many (the ones i do are like $85 geesh!) So I was happy when I came across these awesome marvel leggings at kohls of all places for only $12! I wasn't sure how it would look and had to find the right outfit to pair them with. So I found this black top at Dots that went a little long so I could wear it with the leggings, and paired it with my favorite studded boots. A few days ago I found this awesome scarf at a random store in my local mall, it was so perfect my little scarf loving heart needed to have it, and its the perfect piece with the outfit.

I am so inlove with every bit of this outfit, it is going to get a lot of love this fall and winter. Its one of those outfits that makes me feel pretty, but at the same time I am have my little pop of nerdy-ness that from a far you can't really tell but then its like "OH BADASS THOSE ARE SWEET LEGGINGS" at least to me.

Hope you guys enjoyed this outfit, once my video is up on youtube of the outfit I will post it bellow!

Ursula from the Little Mermaid Costume

If there is one thing I love about Halloween its putting together my costume. That is the best part in the upcoming months before. If you follow me on instagram you saw this go from a pile of fabric to this. When I first decided I wanted to be Ursula I did check the halloween websites to get ideas, and the costumes were SO expensive and for barely any costume and lets face it, for a "bigger" girl its harder to find costumes.

Over the years I have made a lot of my costumes, from Lydia Deetz, Hit girl, Mia Wallace, Jem and The Joker. I knew I could make Ursula and make it amazing.

I decided making a Tutu with the tentacles   on top would look the best, The tut was tutu was the easiest to make and I just sewed the tentacles and stuffed them LIGHTLY with some filling, I didn't want them to be huge and if I walked around would bump into everything, or be heavy. The tutu and tentacles are separated, which prevented the top part from being lost in all the tutu-ness. My top was from Dots and the fabric matches the tutu.

Now when I posted my makeup test run online I got a lot of crap for not "painting myself" like her. Now I know Ursula is purple, I know I am not, for one I have a few peoples makeup to do the same night I am dressing up, so I did my face first before leaving for the day (this lasted me all night! even the brows) And I know I would end up rubbing off the paint or sweat it off, so i decided to do this. I figured the purple blush and the wig with the purple highlights and the color in the tutu would mimic her skin tone and would make up for it. I make my brows more....dramatic (lets face it she has some mean brows) and did a eye look with almost the same colors she is wearing but I put some purple shimmer in the center of the lid, to make sort of a blurpurple/grey smokey eye that was really dramatic.

I loved the way this came out, tho it doesn't look like every Ursula look, It gets the point across and I loved working on it all, my favorite part is the necklace, to me its PERFECT. A little shell I found in the craft store, painted to match and glued to a ribbon really completes the costume!

I hope you all enjoyed my costume because I sure enjoyed making it. There is going to be a full halloween post coming soon, along with the group little mermaid costume pictures and other makeup I did that night!

Here is the OTTD video I filmed, Hope you guys have an awesome halloween! thanks for reading!

Fall OOTD and Pumpkin Picking

My favorite season is fall, I love everything about it, the crispness in the air, the fact I can now wear scarfs and layers and hoodies. Apple Cider and pumpkin flavored everything. I love living in New England because I get to take advantage of everything this season has to offer. One the air gets cool and the leaves start to change I get all warm and fuzzy inside. Its cheesey but honestly I just really love fall, halloween and everything that comes in the end of September and October, the makeup  and fashion, the food, the holidays. I would dress like it was fall all year round if the weather let me. Hell I wear boots and hoodies mid summer most days and scarfs until I cant no more.

Today was the first day in awhile i got to wear a scarf, if you know me its pretty much a staple in my wardrobe. I didn't want to dress up because hell I was going pumpkin picking, so I just threw on my Hogwarts shirt, a cardi and some boots, it was still cute but comfy but i didn't look like i rolled out of bed either.

Decaying Zombie Halloween 2013 Makeup Tutorial.

My first Halloween tutorial this year is another part of my zombie series, last year I did a basic zombie, this time around is a bit more gore-tastic, but not so over the top. Sharing some basic skills and a few different techniques, including liquid latex, scar wax, and gelatin, to make zombie wounds, decaying skin and gross bites.

If you want to know how to do this zombie look, please watch my video!

FX Makeup: Torn Face

I am working on things for halloween, getting some practice in and prepping myself to do some tutorials for some youtube tutorials. Today I sat infront of the mirror and just kind of let this happen, no plan at all and just sort of, went with it. I find the best idea come from this. I love how this came out, sort of the "pretty" and "not so pretty" side of it. Would you guys like a tutorial on this? Let me know!

FOTD: Bold Bright eyes and natural lips

today I felt like playing with my Bright Eyeshadows. Maybe its because summer is coming to an end, but I was feeling in a bright and bold kind of mood.

there is everything from MUFE, Kat Von D and Urban Decay.  I love the color combo of pink and yellow, and the pop of cobalt blue. Because my eyes were so bold I went soft with everything else, even leaving my brows pretty tame.

Hope you guys enjoyed this FOTD! And enjoy your holiday weekend!

FOTD: Blue Eyeshadow, Classy or Trashy?

We all know the stereotypical, almost 80's style blue eyeshadow. I remember as a kid my mom telling me "never wear blue eyeshadow its trashy" I am sure some of you have heard some of that in your lifetime.  Sure when you watch 80's movies and you see Joan Cusack with her wash of baby blue eyeshadow smeared over her eyes, it gives you a little cringe, but don't be afraid of it, you can rock it and make it look nice, not trashy or straight from the 80's.

First off, don't just smear blue all over your eyes and call it a day. Mix it up with another color (like black or dark purple) and so a smokey eye and add a little baby blue in the corner to brighten up the eye. If thats too much? Then so a little blue liner on your top or bottom lashes, but you don't have to be afraid of blue eyeshadow just because the 80's scared us away from it.

This face of the day turned into a ramble, but oh well! Hope you all enjoyed it, and let me know, do you rock blue shadow?

Plus Size OOTD: Beetlejucie dress

Today was mine and the boy's anniversary, so we went on a lunch date so after we could walk a long the water and get froyo. It was a pretty good day, and though its been hot and I didn't want to over dress, I still wanted to look pretty. I love this dress, I got it at Dots on sale and it makes me feel pretty, that's the best thing about finding a dress that you love, it gives you confidence. I have been lucky enough to find a lot of dresses at Dots that do that to me. Its hard being an odd size to find dresses that fit me well but I have had a lot of luck at Dots.

I am loving the stripped trend, since I was a kid I loved Beetlejucie and I am stocking up on all of this fashion because I love feeling like I could be him and Lydia's love child haha. But really, this outfit was perfect for today, and made me feel beautiful and the boyfriend loved it also.

Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze Collection

Since I just picked these up today, and haven't had a chance to try them all out, I will call this a first impressions post. But I was so excited I had to share.

I can say I am very proud of myself here, I went into CVS purely to buy a card and decided to check out the makeup section and boom, the wet N wild pop art collection finally. Now why am I proud of myself? I limited myself to only three, the three that I found I either didn't have anything like this, or one that really perked my interest. This collection is a very bold and bright collection with 6 trios, so I resisted temptation and only got half.

With just playing with a few colors (the onlys that really perked my interest) I created a look, and here it is.

the red and orange is the main reason I bought the first and last trios. a red for a drug store makeup is very rare, and tho some brands so orange, not a lot do one that is bright and packs a punch. The blended very well and with some help from NYX's milk they really pop on the eyes. So far, so good. Then again I am normally not disappointed in wet n wilds eyeshadows.

I will have a full review with swatches and all that good stuff once I really try these bad boys out, but so far, they seem like they are going to be great, for only $2.99 I don't mind having to use a white base, most high end BRIGHT shadows you still need a base for.
